Initiatives for Quality and Service Improvement

Our primary and ultimate goal is to provide products that satisfy our customers and encourage continued use.

To achieve this, we obtained the international standard ISO9001 in 1997, establishing a system that ensures consistency across the design, production, sales, and service processes. We set quality objectives for each process and promote continuous improvement to ensure higher quality.

In 2020, we acquired the international standard ISO27001, enabling centralized management of all hardware, networks, and systems involved in company activities, not limited to computer-related aspects. We continuously improve our Information Security Management System (ISMS) to ensure information security.

Environmental Initiatives

Koden is committed to technologies and production activities that harmonize with the environment, respecting the richness of nature while looking towards the future.

We obtained the international standard ISO14001 in 2005 and take actions that contribute to environmental conservation in all aspects of our business activities, striving to reduce environmental impact through energy and resource conservation.

Green Procurement

Our environmental policy emphasizes the promotion of green procurement, including product parts, materials, and office supplies.

By providing eco-friendly products to the market, we aim to contribute to a recycling-oriented society. To facilitate smooth green procurement, we have established the “Green Procurement Guidelines” and the “Environmental Impact Chemical Substance Survey Manual (for suppliers)”. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in our environmental conservation activities.

Engagement with Society

We have dedicated ourselves to the design, manufacturing, sales, and maintenance of high-value-added products such as marine electronics and industrial electronics.

As a result of these efforts, we have been selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as one of the “Companies Driving Regional Growth.”

We will continue to aim to be a company rooted in the community and growing together with the region.

The title of “Companies Driving Regional Growth” is awarded to core companies that lead the regional economy by leveraging regional characteristics and strengths to create high added value, capturing demand in promising growth areas within the region, and generating economic ripple effects.

Participation in the Hayabusa2 Capsule Recovery Mission

Our marine radar was adopted for the search for the landing site when the capsule of the asteroid explorer “Hayabusa2” returned to Earth. The Koden Capsule Recovery Team successfully tracked the capsule with three radar stations, achieving a highly accurate result with a final detection difference of approximately 240 meters.

Support for Yacht Races and Adventure Voyages

Koden supports global yacht races and various adventure voyages by providing marine electronics equipment.

Mr. Yukoh Tada, whom we sponsored, won Class II of the world’s first single-handed around-the-world yacht race, “Around Alone”.

His disciple, Mr. Kojiro Shiraishi, became the first Asian to complete the “Vendée Globe” single-hand non-stop unassisted circumnavigation.

Support for Archeological Excavation and Research Works

Koden has provided both personnel and GPR (underground detector) to support various academic excavation and research works to find buried objects in the ground at archaeological sites, achieving significant results. This includes research on the Great Pyramid at Giza, Valley of the Kings in Egypt, and Kitora tomb in Japan.

Furthermore, Koden’s scientific-research-purpose scanning sonar and its engineers were active in the seabed research around Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, Japan as well as the research for the remains of Mongolian warships that were sunk during the Mongol invasions of western Japan in large typhoons in both 1274 and 1281.
